We are a small studio, not a care service. Here is what we can help with — and who to call if it is urgent.
If someone is at risk right now, do not email us
We do not monitor messages day and night, and we cannot send anyone to help. Please call one of these instead.
- Emergency — someone is in danger or seriously unwell: call 999.
- Urgent health advice when your GP is closed: call NHS 24 on 111.
- An adult you think is being harmed or neglected: call your council's social work team. Out of hours, every Scottish council has an emergency social work number — search for your council name and "out of hours social work". If it cannot wait, call 999.
- A concern about a care home or care service: the Care Inspectorate takes complaints on 0345 600 9527.
- If you are struggling to cope: Samaritans are there day and night on 116 123. Age Scotland's helpline is 0800 12 44 222.
What we can help with
Email us and we will get back to you.
- Something on this site is wrong or out of date — a care home detail, a figure in the funding calculator, a broken link. This is the most useful thing you can tell us.
- You run a care home or a law firm and want your listing corrected — or want to be added, or removed.
- A tool was confusing — tell us where you got stuck. We rewrite things because of messages like that.
- Your information — a copy of what we hold, or a request to delete it. See our privacy notice.
- Press, councils and third sector organisations — happy to talk.

We aim to reply within five working days. We are one person, so sometimes it is slower — but we do read everything.
What we cannot do
We cannot arrange care, carry out an assessment, chase a council, act for you in a guardianship application, or advise on your own legal, financial or medical situation. We are not regulated to do any of that, and doing it badly would hurt more than it helped.
What we can do is make sure the free tools here are accurate, clear, and point you at the right official body. If you need advice on your own circumstances, our solicitor directory lists firms across Scotland that do this work.
